What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a type or research study that’s purpose is to analyze and understand new medical interventions. These interventions can be drugs, devices, or changes in behavior. Clinical trials need volunteers who are willing to receive these interventions. Participation is completely voluntary and will often times compensate for any medical testings done.

Potential Benefits of Clinical Trials

  1. Clinical trials can give someone the opportunity to receive a potentially new treatment before it’s available to everyone and at no cost to you.

  2. Your participation helps the advancement of various medical interventions.

  3. During the clinical trial, you will receive medical testing and observation along with the care you are already receiving from your doctor.

  4. Some clinical trials can include certain diagnostic tests that are not available to the public or covered by insurance. Participation in the study allows you access and at no cost.
